Kipari’s recreational area

Welcome to Kipari! The parking lot is located at Kiparintie 738, Rautavaara.

During the summer you can enjoy the area by hiking around Kipari, exploring nature and admiring views from the observation tower. You can also pick berries. The area has large height differences due to which the nature is diverse. The lower slope is covered in leafy forest, the peak has foliage and views which are remimiscent of Finland’s more Southern parts of Lapland.

During the winter you can go snowshoeing. You can practice both snowboarding and sledging down different sledging routes. During spring-winter the neighbouring Lake Keyritty has very inviting ice for skiing and ice fishing. Along the ice there is also a snowmobile route.

The views from the top of Kipari are very impressive. Before you is Lake Keyritty’s islands, an observant person may catch a glimpse of Rautavaara’s village church. Picnic snacks can be enjoyed at the peak of the hill or inside a grill hut, where there is the oppurtunity to start a campfire. Firewood is available in the nearby wood shed. The peak also has an outhouse.

In the immediate vicinity of the area lies Kipari’s and Hiekkahäikä’s naturally sandy beaches, where it is possible to swim.

You can spend the night in a caravan in the outside area’s parking lot or by camping in a tent by the beaches.
